This exhibit focuses on the communities and places that once existed in Travis County. These communities and places reflect the small population and rural nature of Travis County past. With the growth of Travis County over the years, these communities and places disappeared due to a variety of reasons. Today, reminders of these communities and places still exist in such things as old buildings, street signs and historical markers.

The map provides markers for the locations of these lost communities and places in Travis County. Each marker gives a short historical summary of the lost community or place and a related photo.
