In 2015, the Folk Art Museum of Central Texas was formed as a partnership between the Austin Friends of Folk Art (AFFA) and the Travis County Archives. The partnership allows Travis County to exhibit AFFA’s continuously growing collection of art objects, artifacts, photographs, and related materials. In exchange, Travis County provides storage and preservation for the collections at the Travis County Archives when not on display.
Travis County makes these items available to the public through rotating exhibits and displays throughout county buildings. Currently, select items are on display at 700 Lavaca Street, Austin, TX, 78701 in the Hall of Government; plans are in the work to expand exhibits to further spaces and buildings.
