Since 2008, Travis County History Day has brought unique and interesting aspects of our local history to the forefront. This year, we look back at the History Day events we’ve held over the past 12 years.
For the first time, we have put excerpts and imagery from past events online. This virtual retrospective covers the wide range in History Day topics: the Heman Marion Sweatt Travis County Courthouse; William B. Travis, namesake of the county; early settlement of the area; current and former elected officials; changes in the county from early days to present day; the history of law enforcement; county extension services; folk art and cultural crossroads; Travis County alumni; histories and mysteries; the anniversary of World War I; and genealogy. We welcome you to browse the online exhibits, and we hope to see you at a Travis County History Day event in person in the future.
The video below provides a compilation of past history day speakers and performances. The video is introduced by County Judge Sam Biscoe.
